This project involved the design of a 2024 voter guide for the California Native Vote Project, developed to encourage and support Native voter participation across California during a pivotal election cycle. The guide provides accessible information on statewide ballot propositions, voting processes, and key steps to ensure votes are counted.

Conceived as a culturally grounded civic engagement tool, the project was designed to resonate with Native communities while maintaining clarity and approachability for first-time and returning voters alike. The guide functions as both an informational resource and a call to action—supporting the message that Native participation is essential to shaping outcomes related to climate protection, healthcare, and community well-being.

The visual approach centers original illustration as the primary narrative device. A Southwest Native woman is depicted wearing turquoise jewelry and a denim jacket adorned with advocacy pins, serving as a contemporary, relatable representation of Native civic presence. Illustration and graphic elements were intentionally foregrounded to support the content, creating a strong emotional and cultural entry point into the informational material.

Drawing from lived experience and years of working within Native communities, the design prioritizes cultural competency, authenticity, and respect. The result is a voter guide that balances advocacy and accessibility—using art, typography, and layout to encourage engagement while clearly communicating essential election information.
