This project focused on strategic visual direction for OpenAQ, an environmental technology nonprofit that aggregates and harmonizes open air quality data from around the world into an open-source, open-access platform. OpenAQ’s mission is to empower researchers, policymakers, advocates, and communities with the data needed to analyze air quality, communicate findings, and advocate for clean air—addressing air inequality on a global scale.

The work was developed to translate complex, data-driven concepts into a clear and engaging visual narrative accessible to a broad, international audience. Using an infographic-informed design approach, graphic imagery and text were intentionally intertwined to create a dynamic presentation that guides viewers through the arc of the content. The goal was to support comprehension, momentum, and clarity while maintaining credibility within an environmental advocacy context.

The project was executed entirely in Adobe Illustrator, enabling precise control over vector illustration, iconography, and typographic hierarchy. Visual systems were designed to be modular and scalable, allowing the work to function effectively across digital platforms. An advocacy-forward tone was established through color, form, and pacing—balancing urgency with approachability to support public engagement and education.
This project reflects my approach to strategic design for mission-driven organizations: combining structure, narrative flow, and disciplined visual systems to communicate complex issues clearly, persuasively, and at scale.
