This project involved the design of a logo for a public health research initiative at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, focused on understanding tobacco and cannabis co-use among American Indian populations in California. The work was commissioned as part of an ongoing collaboration supporting research led by Dr. Claradina Soto, PhD, MPH, Associate Professor of Clinical Population and Public Health Sciences.

The logo was designed to visually bridge contemporary public health research with Indigenous cultural identity. Drawing from California Indian basketry patterns, the mark integrates traditional motifs within a modern, research-forward visual system—communicating credibility, cultural competency, and respect for community context.

Created entirely in Adobe Illustrator, the design emphasizes clarity, scalability, and adaptability across research materials, publications, and presentations. The final logo supports academic rigor while honoring Indigenous representation within health equity research.
