This self-initiated project involved the development of a collection of Indigenous voter graphics, typographic compositions, and illustrated portraits created to expand culturally grounded representation within commercial stock image and graphic libraries. I conceived the series as a flexible visual resource for Tribal Nations, Native organizations, nonprofits, advocacy groups, and other initiatives supporting voter registration, civic engagement, and community outreach.
The project responds to the continued lack of contextualized Indigenous imagery available through mainstream stock platforms. In place of generic or culturally disconnected representations, the artwork centers Native people as active participants in shaping their communities, homelands, and futures. The resulting series combines contemporary civic messaging with illustrated subjects and visual details informed by the cultural contexts represented throughout the work.
I developed the initial concepts and composite artwork in Adobe Photoshop, then refined and translated the compositions into scalable vector illustrations in Adobe Illustrator. The visual system uses limited color palettes, expressive linework, structured geometry, bold typography, and carefully considered cultural elements to create a unified collection. Each composition was designed to function independently while maintaining a recognizable visual relationship to the larger series.
The project reflects my individual voice as a Native artist and designer, using contemporary color theory, graphic detail, portraiture, and editorial composition to communicate dignity, cultural continuity, collective power, and self-determination. Selections from the series are planned for release through Adobe Stock beginning September 2026.
