This project involved the design of a policy and research report for the Los Angeles City/County Native American Commission (LANAIC), titled Advancing Indigenous Housing Rights in Los Angeles: International Best Practices and a Legal Framework. The report was authored by the Human Rights in Action Clinic of UCLA School of Law and presents a human-rights-based framework for advancing Indigenous housing rights within Los Angeles County and comparable settler-colonial contexts.

The publication analyzes international and domestic models for Indigenous housing advocacy, drawing on examples from New Zealand, Canada, and the United States. It is intended as a practical resource for policymakers, advocates, and community leaders working to address Indigenous homelessness through legal and structural frameworks.

I was engaged as a trusted Native designer to translate this complex, research-driven content into a clear, professional, and highly structured publication. Using a disciplined editorial approach, the layout emphasizes clarity, contrast, and hierarchy—supporting long-form reading while ensuring that key voices, findings, and arguments are properly foregrounded throughout the report.

The design was executed using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, with meticulous attention given to technical details including footnotes, superscripts, appendices, and cross-referencing. Ensuring consistency between the table of contents, citations, and supporting materials was a critical component of the work, reflecting the rigor required for legal and policy publications.

This project demonstrates my ability to design within formal, institutional contexts—balancing a restrained, corporate visual language with cultural competency and care—while supporting advocacy, credibility, and real-world policy application.
