This project involved the development of a cohesive visual identity and editorial publication for Home, Elsewhere, a contemporary art exhibition presented by Truffs Contemporary Art Foundation as part of Los Angeles Design Weekend (LAD/W) 2026. Hosted at Blue & The Muse Gallery in Los Angeles, the exhibition featured artists Saba Sadr, Carly França, Fía Benitez, and Brenda Gonzalez, exploring themes of home, displacement, memory, material, and cultural identity through diverse artistic practices.

The exhibition examined how the concept of home is carried, reconstructed, and reimagined through objects, inherited traditions, and personal experiences. The creative direction sought to translate these themes into a distinctive visual language that balanced contemporary graphic design with the tactile qualities of traditional textile craftsmanship.

At the center of the visual identity was an embroidery-inspired design system incorporating cross-stitch typography, geometric ornamentation, and textile textures. The composition referenced the physical qualities of needlework, emphasizing repetition, materiality, and handcrafted detail. A restrained palette of warm neutrals and deep red established visual consistency across promotional graphics while reinforcing the exhibition's themes of memory, intimacy, and belonging.

The project extended into a 12-page saddle-stitched exhibition publication designed to introduce the participating artists and document their respective practices. The editorial system incorporated artist statements, biographies, artwork photography, captions, and exhibition information within a carefully structured typographic hierarchy. A combination of expressive serif typography, generous white space, and subtle accent colors provided a contemporary presentation that allowed the artwork and written narratives to remain central.

Beyond the publication, the visual identity was adapted across digital promotional materials, including event graphics and social media assets. Each application maintained a consistent relationship between typography, imagery, and the exhibition's overarching visual language, creating a unified identity across print and digital platforms.

Developed using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, the project demonstrates an integrated approach to exhibition branding, editorial design, typography, and visual storytelling. The resulting design system connects the conceptual themes of the exhibition with a cohesive visual experience, supporting both the presentation of contemporary art and its accompanying public-facing communications.
