This project involved the design of an annual fiscal report for the National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA), an organization working at the Tribal, local, state, and national levels to strengthen systems that support Native children, youth, and families. The report documents NICWA’s work responding to evolving needs in Indian Country and the broader child welfare landscape in the United States.
I was engaged as a trusted Native designer to develop a publication that balanced institutional credibility with clarity, accessibility, and cultural awareness. The report features a visually distinctive cover using curated in-house imagery, setting a professional and contemporary tone while remaining grounded in the organization’s mission.
Inside, the publication employs an infographic-driven layout system designed to communicate complex, data-based information clearly. A central design feature includes a national map with corresponding data entries representing member organizations, partners, and affiliated entities across regions. Careful attention was given to text hierarchy, color theory, and spatial organization to ensure the information remained legible, navigable, and engaging across multiple spreads.
The final report was highly commended by the organization upon delivery, reflecting both the effectiveness of the visual system and the clarity of execution. This project demonstrates my strength in translating complex institutional data into coherent, visually compelling print publications that support advocacy, transparency, and public understanding.
